SECURITY NOTICE: PLEASE READ THIS
For your privacy and protection, this server is now equipped with SSL security. This is the same security used by other security-sensitive
sites such as banks (when you see the "padlock" show up in your browser's status bar underneath the main window, this means you are using
an SSL-secured server). SSL-secured servers protect
you by defending against a "man in the middle" deciphering the communication between
you and the SSL server.
However, unlike your bank, carter.to's SSL server is not configured properly in the strictest sense, and this means that
when you acccess carter.to's SSL server, your browser will
warn you that the server is not valid, and will then ask you if you wish to continue talking to the server. While this messages is accurate (and in general, you should be skeptical of sites that
generate this warning), I recommend you answer in the affirmative, (ie: answer "yes, I wish to continue"), because using this SSL server is
many times more secure than using the old non-SSL server.
PLEASE NOTE: If you are reading this message, you are not using the new SSL server, you are still using the old non-SSL server.
The obvious question becomes, "Why isn't the carter.to SSL server configured correctly, so that I don't get this message when I access
it?" Answer: In order to make this warning message "go away" requires the outlay of cash which I would rather not
spend at the moment. Simple as that.
THEREFORE: Because this "warning message" will likely scare some users off, I've decided to keep the non-SSL server up, and it remains the default.
If you do nothing, you will continue to use the non-SSL server, and are consequently at a higher security risk. To access the SSL-enabled server:
